How much does school cost each year?

Even a “free” public school costs $1,000+ a year per child in uniforms, devices and contributions. Catholic adds a few thousand; independent schools can be $16,000+ a year per child. Source: education-cost research.

Worked example. One child at a government school ≈ $1,300/year and around $17,000 across 13 years. Two kids, or a private school, multiply it fast — a reason to start an education fund early.
