Cost Per Use Calculator

Work out the true cost per use of a purchase to decide if it's really worth buying.

Last verified: 5 May 2026

Is it worth buying?

Divide the price by how many times you'll use it. A purchase under $1 per use is excellent value, $1–$5 is reasonable, and over $10 per use is a sign to think twice. Source: general budgeting principle.

Worked example. A $200 item used 4 times a month for 3 years gives 144 total uses, so the cost per use is about $1.39 — reasonable value.
