How much is Carer Payment in 2026?

From 20 March 2026, the maximum Carer Payment is $1,200.90 per fortnight ($31,223.40/year) for singles, and $905.20 per fortnight ($23,535.20/year) for each member of a couple. This includes Pension Supplement and Energy Supplement.

Who is eligible for Carer Payment?

Carer Payment is for people who provide constant care to someone with a severe disability, medical condition, or who is frail aged. The care receiver must score 25+ on the Adult Disability Assessment Tool (ADAT). You must be an Australian resident and meet income and assets tests.

Can I work while receiving Carer Payment?

Yes, you can work up to 25 hours per week (including travel time) while receiving Carer Payment, as long as you continue to provide constant care. Your employment income will be assessed under the income test and may reduce your payment.

What is the difference between Carer Payment and Carer Allowance?

Carer Payment ($1,200.90/fn) is an income support payment for full-time carers who can't support themselves through work. Carer Allowance ($153.00/fn) is an additional supplement with no income or assets test — you can receive both simultaneously.
