How much is Carer Payment in 2026?

From 20 March 2026 the maximum Carer Payment (including Pension Supplement + Energy Supplement) is $1,200.90 per fortnight ($31,223.40/yr) for singles and $905.20/fn each ($23,535.20/yr) for members of a couple. It's for people providing constant care to someone scoring 25+ on the Adult Disability Assessment Tool. You can work up to 25 hours/week (including travel) and still keep the payment. Carer Payment is income- and assets-tested; Carer Allowance ($153.00/fn) has no test and pays on top. Source: Services Australia.

Worked example. Single carer, $200/fn employment income, $40,000 in assessable assets. Income free area $218/fn → no income-test reduction. Assets well below single-homeowner threshold ($321,500) → no assets-test reduction. Payment = full $1,200.90/fn. Add Carer Allowance $153.00/fn → $1,353.90/fn (~$35,200/yr). If partnered: each at $905.20/fn → $1,810.40/fn combined (~$47,070/yr). Apply via myGov-Services Australia with a Medical Report from the care receiver's GP/specialist.
