How much is the work from home deduction?

For 2025-26 the ATO fixed rate is 70 cents per hour worked from home. It bundles your energy, phone, internet, stationery and computer consumables into one rate — so you don't claim those separately. You can still claim the decline in value of a desk, chair or laptop on top. Source: ATO.

Worked example. 20 hours a week for 48 weeks = 960 hours × 70c = a $672 deduction. At a 32% marginal rate (incl. Medicare) that's about $215 back at tax time. Keep a record of your actual hours for the whole year.
