From 20 March 2026 the maximum DSP (aged 21+) is $1,200.90/fn single ($31,223.40/yr) and $905.20/fn each for couples. Under-21 rates are lower: $621.80/fn (no children), $854.20/fn (with children). Eligibility: aged 16-67, permanent condition scoring 20+ on the Impairment Tables, unable to work 15+ hours/week within 2 years. Income free area: $218/fn single, $380/fn couple combined; then −50c per $1. DSP recipients get a Pensioner Concession Card plus possible Rent Assistance (up to $215.40/fn). Source: Services Australia.

Worked example. Single, 35, earns $300/fn supported work. Free area $218/fn → $82 excess × 50c = $41 reduction → $1,200.90 − $41 = $1,159.90/fn (~$30,160/yr). Same person renting privately for $400/fn → Rent Assistance ~$184.80/fn → total ~$1,344.70/fn. Pension cuts out at around $2,619.80/fn employment income for singles. NDIS is separate and does not reduce DSP. Apply via myGov with medical evidence and impairment table assessment.

DSP is for people aged 16 to Age Pension age (currently 67).
